Vandegrift will have their hands full this week against Cam Cook, Braylon James and company but I think the Vipers will stand tall and keep the tigers from making big plays. Cedar Ridge has had a gauntlet non district schedule with Cedar Park, Bowie and Harker Heights. I think the Raiders will use this as a benefit and scrape past Vista Ridge. Liberty Hill and Noah Long looked dominant last week and should have no problem shutting down a 1-2 Rouse team even though they are coming off a great win against Glenn. Buda Johnson should execute against Del Valle and McCallum vs Crockett is a toss up but I’m favoring the Knights.

Week 4 is here, and it’s time for the district runs to be chased! Every matchup this week could go over 100 points between the two teams. My most electric matchup is going to be Vandegrift @ Stony Point. Vandegrift is starting to find a groove after a tough week 1 against Drip, with two huge shutout victories, but the explosiveness of the Stony Point offense, with Cam Cook, Braylon James, Kory Thomas, and Caden Harris, may be too much too handle, and I can see this being another dog fight for the Vipers. Stony Point coming out with the W by 1 score. Cedar Ridge and Vista Ridge are looking to be one of those teams to make that final push to the playoff this season, with talented QBs and talent to spread the ball to. I see Cedar Ridge pulling away late in this game to win by double digits. I went against Liberty Hill last week, and I took an L, so I’m gonna ride with the Panthers in this weeks matchup against the Shorb led Raiders. Buda Johnson taking on Del Valle after a tough loss to Lake Travis, but showed fight, and some encouraging things in that loss. I’m expecting the Jags to come out winning on the lines of scrimmage and coming out with the victory. McCallum has impressed me so far this season, despite coming up short in a few games. I’m hoping to see another impressive performance tonight against the Cougars.

Vandegrift vs Stony Point- Vandegrift

Where it all began for Braylon James, 1st Varsity TD scores vs the Vipers.  Stony Point has been on an absolute tear, while Vandy has dominated since a heartbreaker vs Dripping Springs.  When we came into the season, we all felt Vandegrift had State potential.  While the Tigers have potential as well, we will see how much tonight.  Gotta roll with home team here.  Vipers, -7.5

Cedar Ridge vs. Vista Ridge- Vista Ridge

Two teams who feel they have opposite momentum going right now.  Ridge War 2022 will be epic.  This feels like a must-win for both teams, despite being the district opener.  Rangers, 2.5

Rouse vs. Liberty Hill- Liberty Hill

A rematch of the rematch, of the rematch.  These 2 teams have given us epic State Quarterfinal playoff battles, but less is on the line here.  I'm hoping both teams pump their brakes and get into district play as healthy as possible.  I'll take LH by a tuddy.  Panthers, -8

Del Valle vs. Buda Johnson- Buda Johnson

It was tough sledding for DV last week, and the Jags are starving for their first W of the season.  I think they get it here.  Jaguars, -14

McCallum vs. Crockett- Crockett

A battle of 2 Austin ISD programs with high hopes for postseason play.  Knights are the traditional fave here, but this is the Coogs best chance to beat the Knights.  I'll take Norton's squad by a hair.  Cougars, -1.

The top matchups this week are going to be super fun. If I wasn’t in studio I’d love to get out to Vandy v STP, coach sanders defense v the dynamic playmakers for the tigers. 

Vista and CR are both teams that play similarly that we had high hopes for coming into the season so I think this game will really right the ship for either team. 

If rouse somehow finds form and can best Liberty Hill, it’ll be a shot heard around the state. While I don’t think it happens, rouse has the guys in place to be able to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the year
