Week 3 of our High School Pickem challenge continues. Here is our Week 3 FLX 5 Picks

CAMERON PARKER (5-5)

Liberty Hill v Georgetown- Georgetown

A young Liberty Hill team is still working through their growing pains but Andrew Petter will have another dominant performance.

McCallum v Connally- McCallum

I'll give the edge to the home field squad

Rouse v Glenn- Glenn

Mason Shorb may not be 100% but this Glenn team is 100% for real.

Westwood v Bastrop- Westwood

Demani Stewart will be too much for Bastrop

College Station v Temple- College Station

Even without Marquise Collins, College Station remains dangerous

DEREK COHEN (5-5)

Liberty Hill v Georgetown- Liberty Hill

McCallum v Connally- Connally

Rouse v Glenn- Glenn

Westwood v Bastrop- Westwood

College Station v Temple- College Station

Look for Liberty Hill to bounce back this week after a tough loss to Hutto last week. Westwood should take care of Bastrop. As much as I want to root for the Bear they just haven’t given me the confidence just yet to pick them again. Rouse has started off to a tough start going 0-2 and I just don’t think they can beat a 2-0 Glenn team. College Station will use their speed and that should be enough to hold off a great Temple team.

   NOLAN HOGAN (7-3)

Liberty Hill v GTown - Georgetown

McCallum v Connally- McCallum

Rouse v Glenn- Glenn

Westwood v Bastrop- Westwood

College Station v Temple- College Station

Not a lot of fire power in this weeks matchups, compared to last, but still plenty of great matchups. Liberty Hill v Georgetown will be the game of the week, as expected. I’m going to play the hot hand, and take Georgetown. Rouse v Glenn is my matchup to watch, if you can’t get eyes on the first game. Last year these teams played a thriller of a game that ended with Rouse edging the Grizzlies 24-21. I expect another physical game again this year, with the Grizz pulling out the W. These schools love the rivalry, and it gets more intense each season, so I’m excited for that outcome. Bastrop hosting Westwood is a great test for Coach Wood and the Warriors, after a physical game with Austin high last week, and a 2-0 start. Bastrop comes into the game 0-2, with a scoring difference of 6 or less in each of those games. I suspect these Bears are prepared for another battle, hungry for that first win. As for the long-distance games. My knowledge is thin for those teams, so I’m riding with the Knights over Connally in a tight game. College station has a lot of speed, as I’ve seen at 7v7. That could be a game where there’s 100+ points on the board between both teams.

SNUPE DANIEL (7-3)

 Liberty Hill v Georgetown- Georgetown

Remember last year when LH lost 2 games early and everyone freaked out?  They ended the season at Jerry's World.  Panther fans shouldn't get caught up in non-district affairs.  I believe Georgetown has similar aspirations as LH, but have more to prove.  I'll take the road team for statement W.  Eagles, -1

McCallum v Connally- Connally

Both look for their first dub of the season.  I expect emotions to play a key role as former McCallum head coach Jason Cecil brings the more experienced team onto the field between these two.  Cougars, -6

Rouse v Glenn- Glenn

Grizzlies may be our area's hottest 5A Division I team.  Based on what I've seen of a hobbled Raiders program thus far, I'm leaning Grizzlies, big.  A Shorb return could to action could turn the tide, but.... Glenn, -17.5

Westwood v Bastrop- Westwood

I dont think people understand how strong the Warriors running back tandem of Demani/Ananias is.  Coupled with Norrell/Davis on field at same time/revamped defense, this year's Warrior team is different.  Bastrop has talent across the roster, but until they can prove it with a win, I'm leaning Westwood here.  Warriors, -14.5

College Station v Temple- Temple

no idea about either team, not paying much attention to either until district play.  Wildcats, -9.5

ZACH LUCERO (6-4)

Liberty Hill v Georgetown- Liberty Hill

McCallum v Connally- Connally

Rouse v Glenn- Glenn

Westwood v Bastrop- Westwood

College Station v Temple- Temple

Im expecting a lot of lopsided scores across the flxatx.com scoreboard. We are finally starting to see who is rising to the top tiers of teams and who is officially off to a bad start. Glenn and Westwood are officially off to GREAT starts and are looking to potentially head into district play with full heads of steam. The teams that I have winning are some of the offensive powerhouses here in the 512 and I think because of that, even if their defense struggles this week teams will have a hard time keeping up.
