An exciting start to ‘Week Five’ of Austin-area 5A/6A, including an instant overtime classic.

Del Valle 42 Akins 8 (FINAL)

Del Valle dominated Akins, going into halftime with a 28-0 lead. The Eagles would muster a score/subsequent 2 point conversion, but the Cardinals outscored Akins 14-8 in 2nd half to walk home with first District 26-6A victory of the season.

Glenn 21 Conanally 14 (FINAL)

Glenn and Connally competitive till the very end. Grizzlies went into halftime leading the Cougars 14-7 (courtesy of touchdowns by Noah Reichold and Josh Contreras). The Coogs would get a 2nd rush TD from Demetrius Garder-Holmes (’21) to tie it 14 all in the 3rd quarter. But then Grizzlies QB Tony Holland (’21) broke off a 40+ yard TD scramble to give Glenn the lead for good.

Pflugerville 32 Manor 21 (FINAL, OT)

In the night’s most epic battle, Pflugerville edged Manor in an instant overtime classic. The two teams tied 25 all going into extras – Manor’s Che Nwabuko (’22) raced to the end zone for a TD on the 2nd play of the overtime period. However the extra point was shanked. Pflugerville would answer the TD via Jake Iloka (’23) just 3 plays later. Jose Zapata (’21) endures the Mustang timeout called before his kick attempt – then calmly nails it to give the Panthers their 4th win of the season.
